1 star is too high in my opinion
Awful company, basically scamming and trying to take advantage of their customers. I'm trying to get out of a rental contract with them, which ended 2 years ago. But the hot water tank is stuck in my basement, won't fit up the stairs. It is disconnected and drained and I have a new tank Installed. I've spend probably 20+ hours of my personal time, on the phone and in person to resolve this.. have tried to be accommodating and easy to work with, but I've only been shown neglect and disrespect.
I called the company to come pick up the water tank in December 2023, they failed to remove the tank, and I'm still being charged monthly for this service. They also promised to resolve the issue, follow up and rebook etc. But nothing happened.
I visited their branch in Ottawa twice since then, once in February, once in May. (took time out of my work day). They said that they would follow up and resolve this issue. Nothing happened, no phone call, no email.
Booked another tank pickup on Tuesday may 28th. And the technicians failed again to remove the tank. Said they would follow up and rebook. Nothing happened.
Called them today may 31st to sort this out and they said there is only 1 solution to the problem; I have to buy out the hot water tank for $350. One final shakedown before a customer says goodbye.
Not a complicated problem to fix. Cut the 12 year old water tank (which is scrap metal pretty much)in half and take it up the stairs, or just end the contract. Leave the tank where it is. But I guess they need to get corporate involved in such a major decision..
Think I'm gonna go find myself a good lawyer for these crooks.

BUYER BEWARE OF RELIANCE!
I encountered serious issues with Reliance that customers should be aware of. It all started with a malfunctioning furnace, leading their technician to recommend a complete replacement along with a new AC unit. We trusted their sales representative, Fred Jacobi, and purchased both. However, problems soon arose—the first furnace arrived dented and was ham-fistedly repaired on-site by a hammer. Unsurprisingly, we demanded a proper replacement.
The second unit, incredibly, also arrived damaged. Only the third furnace seemed intact, but mere days later, it began to leak. A technician confirmed it was installed incorrectly. Despite capturing evidence and continuous attempts to resolve this with their installation manager, I've hit a wall of silence, aside from Fred securing the second furnace replacement.
Now, with no further follow-up, I’m contemplating canceling our contract in favor of a more reliable service. I advise potential customers to seek alternatives to Reliance Home Comfort for better customer service and accountability. It's baffling that this business retains an A+ rating when their customer feedback doesn't reflect it at a 1.33 out of 5. I'm also considering legal action if I receive no updates.

Jay and Logan were very professional and courteous despite having a long day. They showed up after hours and about 9:30 PM. Working as a team , they were able to quickly isolate the problem, contain the issue, and a make a quick recommendations on next steps to resolve. A follow up appointment was quickly scheduled the next morning. I very much appreciated the assistance and peace of mind they provided given my situation. Reliance is very well served by Jay and Logan.

Max was absolutely excellent! He is a well-experienced and knowledgable technician and he was very professional and efficient. What a pleasant experience to have had Max service/fix my AC and to have had Dean (service manager) call me and to have had such a great experience. I heartily recommend them.

Very quick service when our water heater quit working. A replacement part was ordered on Sunday & installed on Monday. Sam was a very friendly, efficient & professional technician. He explained exactly what he replaced & checked that everything was working properly. He ensured that everything was safe before he left. I was happy to have him in my home.
