I've been very happy with my Hot Water Tank rental over the years. I've never had to worry. Anything that has come up has been easily and quickly dealt with. The 24/7 phone number has very kind, compassionate and knowledgeable folks that are very calming and reassuring, especially if calling in a panic.
A shout-out to a couple of the technicians: Logan and Rupinder. It's greatly appreciated to have someone who is coming into your home be so professional and knowledgeable, willing to explain what they're doing, but also friendly and caring.
I'm currently renewing my rental with a new tank (RIP old one but you lived a good and loooong life, a photo posted here to remember you by 😅).
I'm also purchasing more services from Reliance, as all my experiences have been above and beyond my expectations. I can happily recommend them to friends and neighbours in Ottawa.

Exceptional Service by Alan.
I recently had an issue with my furnace, and Alan (Badge #115061) provided outstanding service from start to finish. He was not only professional and knowledgeable but also incredibly thorough in diagnosing and fixing the problem.
Alan took the time to explain the root cause in detail, ensuring I understood exactly what went wrong and how to prevent similar issues in the future. His patience and clear explanations made all the difference.
What truly set him apart was his commitment to safety—he went the extra mile to check all safety points, making sure everything was functioning perfectly before leaving. It’s rare to find a technician who combines expertise with such genuine care for the customer’s well-being.
If you need a skilled, reliable, and detail-oriented technician, Alan is the one to call. Thank you, Alan, for your exceptional service and dedication!

From the time I placed my distress call, to the time Nick arrived was much faster than I had anticipated. He was very polite, respectful and keen on finding the issue and ensuring my safety. When it was apparent my heat exchanger was damaged and not worth repairing due to age of the unit, he contacted Angelo who said he could come by in 30 minutes. I felt such relief that I was being well cared for in a time of great need, in the middle of winter with a large snowstorm forecasted that night. Angelo was friendly, answered all of my questions and was very personable and likeable. I ended up finalizing a replacement furnace at the price point that suited my needs and I was very happy with the service I received. I would highly recommend Reliance Home Comfort.

Couldn’t follow their own schedule of appointments when I called them to come book an appointment early in the morning yesterday and they cancelled within the last five minutes of their timeframe last night at 11 o’clock at night. We got booked in for another appointment at 10 AM this morning and the gentleman arrived and was in within two minutes of him coming to the door. He posted a sign saying sorry we missed you and even though I got him before he got into his van or even grabbed his cones. Of his van, he stated that he already placed in his tablet that we were not home and I explained to him that we had no hot water. How the fact that he’s already out front and he hasn’t even gotten in his vehicle gentleman called someone on his side and then as he speaking to them, I spoke I called my landlord, and the gentleman put his cones away and drives off without even coming back to let me know, hey Dad, just please recall Truly incredibly pathetic the stuff that our company called reliance has. They just lost our business forever and honestly, I’m not want to comment or leave a review a negative review at least on anyone on any basis, but I truly felt This level of unprofessionalism needed to be shared. Attached you see pictures of me speaking with. Him holding his letter trying to plead with him to check the issues.

Beware of unscrupulous practices by certain Reliance technicians who may attempt to scam you by shutting off your gas furnace, leaving you in cold without providing space heaters, issuing a red tag, and claiming your heat exchanger is cracked, rusted, or has holes. They may show saved pictures on their camera tool as "proof," insisting that your furnace is unsafe due to a carbon monoxide leak. This manipulative tactic is often used to pressure homeowners into purchasing a new furnace, even though most heat exchangers come with a 20-year manufacturer warranty.
Here’s what I experienced: I had a heating and cooling maintenance plan with Reliance and scheduled an annual furnace maintenance. The technician (MAX) claimed my heat exchanger had cracks, showing me saved images as evidence and due to Carbon Monoxide leak is unsafe to run. He failed to mention the heat exchanger's 20-year warranty or measured flue CO level and instead quoted $2,000 for the part and $2,000 for labor to replace it. The following day, their salesperson came to my home trying hard to sell me a $6000 new furnace.
Skeptical of their claims, I sought a second opinion. A licensed gas technician removed the heat exchanger, and upon inspection, we found no signs of rust, cracks, or holes, contradicting what the Reliance technician (MAX) had claimed. However, to clear the red tag and restore our furnace, we were forced to replace the heat exchanger—even though it was in perfect condition and submit the cleared red tag to Enbridge
Goodman, the furnace manufacturer, generously honored the warranty, covering the part. However, I still had to pay $500 for labor and endured three days without heat.
This experience exposed the deceptive tactics some companies use, abusing their authority to disconnect furnaces unnecessarily. Stay vigilant and don’t fall into their trap. Always get a second opinion before agreeing to costly repairs or replacements.
I completed a survay sent automatically next day, received a phone call from their service manager and he was suppose to call me back never did. It seems the company using this tactic to push their tech to do more sales.
Rest assured, I will be reporting this incident to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre, the Ontario Energy Board, the TSSA, the local police department, and the Better Business Bureau. It’s deeply concerning to think about how many vulnerable elderly individuals might fall victim to this predatory strategy.
